Third grade, science class. A girl pointed to my thighs and snickered, “Ew! How much do you weigh!?” Funny how such small moments can leave such a lasting impact. I spent the rest of my childhood and adolescence hating my legs. I never wore shorts, hid behind towels at pool parties, and later on, under covers with partners. In my thirties I decided to reclaim my body. Not only through exercise, but through acceptance. These legs have carried me thousands of miles. They have never broken or failed me. Even as I wasted so much time hating and hiding them, they have always been there for me. My thighs are big because they’re strong. Your body is perfect because it’s yours. Nothing can change that. Never forget. Love yourself, love yourself, love yourself.

When I started going to the gym and training in October, @t3athletics, @james2bambamford, and the @cw_arrow team told me something women don't hear very often in Hollywood. "You don't have to be 'skinny'. Be strong." As I began taking that to heart, I started finding gratification in lifting heavier weights, rather than how much food I could restrict. I began looking at how I felt, rather than the scale. If we want lasting health, we must work on our inner strength first- physically, emotionally, and spiritually. As far as the aesthetics? There ain't no harm in a big strong either! (It's fun to wiggle when you dance and good for lower back pain!) @lululemon
